It’s hard to live a no fuss lifestyle when your batteries are constantly running low. Luckily one of the greatest benefits of our superfoods is their ability to re-energise your body and mind, and fight tiredness and fatigue.
Funktional Energy-Boosting Superfoods
You’ll notice a lightning bolt icon gracing the back of many of our superfood pouches. Our Green Blend’s got it, Maca’s got it, Cacao’s got it, and you bet Wheatgrass has got it. This signifies the boost of energy they provide, and no not with caffeine, but with the enormous power of very little things – micronutrients! Here are our top 3 energy-boosting superfoods:
Maca Powder:
Fatigued? Maca could be just what you need. With iron and a range of B vitamins, including B2, B6 and B9 Maca Powder is known to support overall wellbeing as well as energy and stamina. Phew!
Maca may also play a role in reducing stress – this is significant as stress can deplete your energy. We all know that draining feeling stress can have on you, for example, after completing a task like a job interview, exam, or assignment, very often a nap is in order to make it through the rest of the day.
Wheatgrass Powder:
No need to fear tiredness with Wheatgrass kicking about. Why? Because Wheatgrass powder is loaded with iron, which contributes to a normal energy-yielding metabolism. Basically, iron helps to oxygenate your blood cells and without it, you risk suffering from extreme fatigue and headaches, common for those on a plant-based diet. Let’s avoid that.
Cacao Powder:
Have we mentioned cacao in our blogs before? Maybe once or twice… But seriously when it contains so many antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and macronutrients, helps you relax, supports immunity, cognition, AND energy, can you blame us? There is a reason why the Aztecs worshipped this superfood so much... Back to energy though, Cacao Powder is a great source of magnesium and along with its plethora of functions in the body, it contributes to normal energy production.
Lean Green Blend:
As well as providing vitamin C for immune support and protein for lean muscle growth, our Lean Green Blend is a great source of iron to contribute to energy production. It is an invigorating combination of ginger, wheatgrass, pea protein, barley grass, spinach, chlorella, and spirulina. That should do the trick!
Snacks to boost energy when you’re out and about
One of the best ways to maintain energy is by eating enough, and of the right stuff. Especially when you’re on the go, at the beach, at the park, or you know, exploring the world – wherever funky people spend their time. It might be easy to pick up processed foods that are high in refined sugar and fats, but these lack the important nutrients to beat tiredness.
Here are some superfood snacks you can prepare instead for all-day energy:
Energy Oat Cookies
Naturally sweetened with bananas and coconut sugar and loaded with Maca Powder these oat cookies won’t give you that spike in energy and then leave you deflated. They’ll provide a sustained boost throughout the day.
Spirulina Cacao Energy Balls
Whip these energy balls up on the weekend and take them with you wherever you venture during the week! They provide a triple dose of energy with Cacao, Maca, and Spirulina. We haven’t talked about spirulina yet, however, it also provides a source of B vitamins as well as iron, which both contribute to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
3 ingredient Cacao balls
With just three ingredients these energy-boosting balls can be whipped up in a matter of seconds. Simply blend the following ingredients together and form them into balls or any shape for that matter:
- 2 tbsp Funktional Foods Cacao powder
- 1 cup Medjool dates
- 1 cup almonds
Store in the fridge or freezer.
