Spirulina Cacao Energy Balls

The perfect pre-workout energy boost or on-the-go snack.


  • 3 tbsp Funktional Foods Cacao powder, plus additional for rolling if desired
  • 200g medjool dates, pitted and chopped up
  • 1/2 cup (75g) cashews
  • 1/2 cup (75g) almonds
  • 1 level tbsp Funktional Foods Spirulina powder
  • 1 tbsp Funktional Foods Maca powder
  • 2 tbsp agave syrup, plus additional if required
  • 2 tbsp desiccated coconut, plus additional for rolling if desired


  • Simply add all the ingredients to a food processor and process until a sticky mixture is formed
  • Too crumbly? Just add a dash more agave syrup and process again
  • Roll mixture into a ball with your hands
  • Repeat this process until the mixture is used
  • Let loose with the cacao and coconut coating your balls thoroughly
  • Place the balls full of energy on a plate or baking tray and refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving
  • Remove from the fridge and enjoy!
